St. Mary Catholic School Welcomes A New Art Teacher!

My name is Melissa Gibson (but please, call me “Ms. Melissa”– all my students at Washington County Museum of Fine Arts do!).  I’ll be the new art teacher at St. Mary this fall.

I am super excited for this new opportunity and can’t wait to create amazing things with your children this year!  I have been an art instructor at Washington County Museum of Fine Arts for the past 17 years, taking over the position of lead instructor several years ago.  My position, developing the curriculum for the Saturday Morning Youth Program and several community outreach programs with WCPS and non profit organizations in Washington county, has given me the opportunity to spread my love for art with countless children in our area.

I am also a “working artist”- painting murals, commissioned pieces and creating my own body of artwork in various media and dimensions.

I live in Hagerstown with my husband, 2 children, 2 dogs and one very hairless cat.  Both of my kids attend(ed) the visual art program at Barbara Ingram School for the Arts.  My oldest, having graduated last year, is majoring in Art in college.  To say we’re an “artsy family” is an understatement!   I am so very excited God has given me the opportunity to be able to spread my love of “all things art” with your children and am truly looking forward to all the blessed and amazing things this school year will bring!
