St. Mary Catholic School Welcomes A New Student Support Specialist!

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Lana Early as our new Student Support Specialist. Dr. Early earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology/History from Southern Methodist University, a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from University of Maryland, a Masters in Administration & 

Leadership from Johns Hopkins University and a Doctorate in Technology Leadership from Frostburg State University. 

Dr. Early brings a wealth of knowledge and experience including 31 years of teaching in Prince George’s, Frederick and Montgomery County as a Social Studies and College Career educator. Additionally, she has served in the role as Adjunct Professor and was the faculty advisor for Aspiring Educators at Frederick Community College 

She has been the recipient of numerous awards including National History Day Teacher of the Year ( 2003-04) and Mount Vernon Teacher of the Year ( 2014) and earned her National Board Certification in 2004 & 2014.She has also been an active curriculum writer at the local and state level. 

Dr. Early will focus on serving the students of St Mary’s Catholic School in the role as a guidance counselor where she will support students’ social-emotional learning and growth. Additionally, she will implement boundary lessons for grade level cohorts, a Peer Mediation Program along with chairing the Student Accommodations Plans. All initiatives will be connected and applied to the teachings of the Catholic Church.
