SpanishSpanish Class at St. Mary’s Catholic School
Spanish instruction is provided as part of the school’s commitment to forming students who can engage the wider world with both competence and Christian charity. Students in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 5 receive Spanish instruction once per week, building foundational vocabulary and conversational skills. Students in Grades 6 and 7 receive Spanish instruction three times per week, allowing for deeper development of grammar, comprehension, and communication. In Grade 8, students have the opportunity to complete Spanish I for high school credit.
Faith is integrated into Spanish instruction through the inclusion of prayers, religious vocabulary, and the study of Catholic traditions in Spanish-speaking cultures. Students come to appreciate the universality of the Church and the call to respect the dignity of all peoples. Saints from Spanish-speaking countries are also introduced as cultural and spiritual role models.
