Spiritual Life at St. Mary Catholic School

St. Mary Catholic School strives for excellence in academics as well as guidance in spiritual growth. Catholic education encompasses every area of a child’s development.  SMCS instills in the students a wide range of values, morals, ideas, and examples that reflect the teaching of the Catholic Church. Adoration SMCS participates in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Thursdays during Advent and Lent.

All Saints Day:

November 1 brings a special spotlight on the heroes of the Church, the Saints.  Each SMCS sixth grader takes on the responsibility of researching the life of a saint, dressing as the saint, and sharing the saint’s life with the school community.  The school liturgy is also planned by the sixth graders.

Christmas Shows

SMCS students acknowledge the true meaning of Christmas by giving glory to God through song and celebrating the beauty of the Nativity.  Kindergarteners perform a Christmas Pageant.  First Graders perform a Christmas Alphabet.  Grades two through five perform a musical play.

Reconciliation

SMCS students are given the opportunity to attend a Penance Service and to go to confession during Advent and Lent.
