Student Life
Music ProgramSt. Mary’s Catholic School Music Program
An appreciation of the richness of our musical heritage is fostered through music classes.
Junior Schola – The Junior Choir is for students in grades 2-8. They practice during recess one day a week to learn songs which are sung at our feast days and school Masses on Friday.
Schola – Our Schola is an advanced choir for students in grades 4–8 who demonstrate a strong interest in music and a desire to deepen their participation in the Church’s liturgical life. Rooted in the rich tradition of sacred music, the Schola focuses on developing vocal technique, musical literacy, and an understanding of music’s unique role in prayer and worship. Students study and perform sacred repertoire, including chant, hymns, and choral works appropriate for the Mass. Through regular rehearsals and participation in school liturgies and parish Masses, members of the Schola learn that music is not performance alone, but a ministry—one that helps lead the faithful in prayer and glorifies God. Participation in the Schola encourages discipline, teamwork, and reverence, while offering students the opportunity to grow musically and spiritually. Through their voices, our Schola members serve the Church and enrich the worship experience of our school and parish community.
