Saint Mary Catholic School strives for excellence in academics as well as guidance in spiritual growth.
Catholic education encompasses every area of a child’s development. SMCS instills in the students a wide range of values, morals, ideas, and examples which reflect the teaching of the Catholic Church.
SMCS participates in Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Thursdays during Advent and Lent.
All Saints Day
November 1 brings a special spotlight on the heroes of the Church, the Saints. Each SMCS sixth grader takes on the responsibility of researching the life of a saint, dressing as the saint, and sharing the saint’s life with the school community. The school liturgy is also planned by the sixth graders.
Children’s Prayer Group
The Children’s Prayer Group meets Mondays from 3:00 to 3:30 P.M. The students pray the rosary, learn about the Saints, and offer prayers for special intentions.
SMCS students acknowledge the true meaning of Christmas by giving glory to God through song and celebrating the beauty of the Nativity. Kindergarteners perform a Christmas Pageant. First Graders perform a Christmas Alphabet. Grades two through five perform a musical play.
Following a rotating schedule, students in grades three though eight attend the 8:30 A.M. Mass at Saint Mary Catholic Church.
First Friday Mass
On the First Friday of each month at 10:30 A.M. the Saint Mary Catholic School community comes together to celebrate the Eucharist. Classes take turns planning each school liturgy.
Junior Legion of Mary
The Junior Legion of Mary meets on Tuesdays from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M. The students enhance their faith through prayer and service projects.
SMCS students are given the opportunity to attend a Penance Service and to go to confession during Advent and Lent.
In honor of our patron saint, Saint Mary Catholic School students pray a decade of the rosary each morning during the months dedicated to the Blessed Mother, October and May.
Stations of the Cross
On Fridays during Lent students in grades three through eight participate in the Stations of the Cross.
