HAGERSTOWN, MD – St. Mary Catholic School extends an invitation to the community to attend their 4th annual Art Exhibit and Reception at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts on March 6, 2017 from 5:30 – 7:30 pm. Each student will have a piece of their artwork showcased for the evening. SMCS will also have an entire corridor of artwork on display for one month. Light refreshments will be served during the event.

In the past few months, students in Kindergarten through 8th grade have explored the history and techniques of various artists including Georgia O’Keefe, Pablo Picasso, Vincent van Gogh, Mary Cassatt, Paul Klee, Maude Lewis, James Rizzi, Claude Monet, and Eric Carle. This exploration provided the strong foundation for the students to express themselves in their artwork which will be on display.

Mrs. Renken is proud of the partnership between the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts and St. Mary Catholic School. In addition to this wonderful art exhibit, all students take 2 tours per year with hands on activities in the afternoon.

Mrs. Stacey Renken is in her 4th year as the art teacher for grades Pre-K through 8 at St. Mary Catholic School.  She graduated from Shepherd University with a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. She is a graduate of both St. Mary Catholic School and St. Maria Goretti High School.
